About Us

Westgate College is run by the John Townsend Trust, a newly named charity that was registered in December 2008. Formerly the Royal School for Deaf Children Margate, the Trust provides education, care, therapy, medical support and in dependence training for young deaf people with additional needs.

Both the school and Westgate College are situated on a large site in the centre of Margate. Our facilities include classrooms, technology centre incorporating IT, Art Design and Technology, swimming pool, fully equipped medical centre, sensory room, specialist therapy rooms and extensive grounds and an all weather sports pitch.

We strive to release the potential for each individual by building confidence and independence skills and letting them know that they are valued. Working names within The John Townsend Trust: Royal School for Deaf Children Margate, Westgate College for Deaf People, Monkshill Farm and Community Living Services.
